Paintable Wallpaper

Look what I found when browsing the aisles at Walmart:

The wallpaper is $13.47 for 21 in W x 33 ft L (57.75 square feet).

The possibilities are endless!

The re-usable wall stickers that are on the market limit you to color and design. However, the paintable wallpaper does not. You can choose your own paint color and cut the wallpaper into any shape that you desire.

Try using chalkboard paint on this to create a chalkboard ANYWHERE!

Use this to mask the pasty white walls of an apartment or to create a headboard behind a bed.

DIY Twig Wreath

Follow these three techniques to make a natural wreath using twigs from your backyard. Keep a roll of twine from the Dollar Tree nearby in case you are having trouble getting the base started.

The first two techniques are the most important to use when you are starting the wreath. I found that dry or green vines were the easiest to use for the knoting technique. Green vines will turn brown as they die. Soaking the twigs in water over night slightly helped, but not much.

Share any other tips you may have!

Rosemary & Parmesan Sweet Potato Stackers

It is officially time for fresh summer produce.

I stumbled upon this amazing recipe and had to try it today.

The great part about this recipe, there is no need to measure!

How to make it healthier..use less butter and utilize a non-stick pan so there is no need for greasing the pan.

Dollar Tree Monogram Door Mat

What You Need:

Dollar Tree Mat
Acrylic Paint
Paint brush
Craft Knife

I found this mat at the Dollar Tree Store (on the aisle with laundry bags and hangers) and was itching to turn it into something cute for Spring. Laurel wreaths are all the craze so I did a google search to find one that I wanted to use. There is a good take of a laurel wreath here. All you need to do is cut it out and paint.

It took me 30 minutes total!

Mantle Decorating

Fireplace mantels come in all shapes and sizes.

It's fun to pin home decor on Pinterest, but odds are your house is not conducive to the layout of the rooms you are pinning. The location of windows, shelves, doors, etc. are going to be different 99.9% of the time, making it nearly impossible to copy.

That's why I encourage you to MAKE IT YOUR OWN.

Change it up..and boy do I love changing up mantel decor.

Pull out items that have been in storage around the house, but have special meaning to YOU and your family!

Crafts and my baby shoes add layers and personal touch. The lantern was on clearance at TJ Maxx. I added height by stacking the lantern on a candle holder.

Make your own moss balls with a bag of moss from the Dollar Tree store and any round objects you have laying around.

Fool Proof Healthy Sweet Potato Recipe

Just throw in a dash of butter (or brown sugar) and cook at 350 degrees until soft..

The double aluminum wrap is the secret to keeping in the butter and flavor without drying out the potato!

Horsin' Around

I'm considering naming him.

I was amazed how well the horse took the gold spray paint. Less spray paint = less money! I can always use gold spray paint somewhere else.

The horse came from the toy section at Dollar Tree.

The "tray" is an old picture frame I pulled out of the attic and removed the back from.

Happy Halloween

I'm playing catch up, but I had to share some Halloween pictures because we had fun this year.
We had to try to tame mom's decorating craziness, but tacky it up a little since, after all, it is Halloween.

I bought burlap from the salvage shop, used sharpie markers, and rope from Dollar Tree to make the sign over the door for $1.80. The broom is made from a bamboo pole and some sort of fanned floral stuff I found in the floral section at the Dollar Tree.

This is the link to the Boo Ya'll pumpkin carving pattern by who else...Paula Deen!

Happy Belated Halloween,

Ashley Lynn.
